In short
DetectProxy is a lookup API. Use it to protect your own product, stay inside your plan's limits, don't copy the dataset or resell access, and know that verdicts are helpful signals, not guarantees.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of the DetectProxy API and this website (together, the “Service”), operated by DetectProxy (“DetectProxy”, “we”, “us”).
By subscribing to a plan, creating an API key, or sending requests to the API, you agree to these Terms, our Acceptable Use Policy and our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you confirm that you have the authority to bind it.
2. The Service
DetectProxy classifies an IP address that you submit — for example as datacenter, VPN/proxy, attack source, spam source, malware source, reserved space, or clean — and returns a suggested policy.
The Service is a lookup API. It is not a data export product, and it does not provide bulk downloads of its dataset. We may improve, change or discontinue features from time to time.
3. Accounts, API keys and billing
The Service is offered through the RapidAPI marketplace. Your account, API key, subscription, billing, taxes and payment method are managed by RapidAPI under its Terms of Service. We do not receive your payment card details.
Plans, prices, quotas and rate limits are shown on the plan listing and on our pricing page. If they ever differ, the listing on RapidAPI at the time you subscribe applies.
- Keep your API key confidential. You are responsible for all activity under it.
- Tell us promptly if you think your key has been exposed.
- Cancellations and refunds are handled under RapidAPI’s Terms of Service and the plan you chose.
4. Quotas and rate limits
Each plan has a daily quota and a per-second rate limit. Both apply at the same time, and the rate limit applies even if you are well under your quota. Plans are hard-capped: requests above a limit are rejected (for example with HTTP 429) until the limit resets or you upgrade.
We may adjust limits and plan features with reasonable notice. The free plan comes with no capacity guarantees.
5. Acceptable use
You must use the Service in line with our Acceptable Use Policy. In particular, you must not:
- query the API in order to reconstruct, replicate or approximate the underlying dataset;
- resell, sublicense or redistribute access to the API or its raw responses as a data or lookup product;
- share your API key, or use multiple accounts or keys to get around quotas or limits;
- bypass the marketplace or otherwise circumvent access controls; or
- use the Service for anything unlawful or to harm other people.
6. Accuracy and your responsibility
Verdicts are signals, not facts. The dataset is compiled from multiple sources, can be incomplete or out of date, and will contain errors.
- “Clean” does not mean safe. It only means the address is not in our dataset.
- A datacenter address is not automatically malicious. Many are ordinary servers.
- Residential and mobile proxies are not covered. They use normal ISP addresses.
You decide what to do with each result and you are responsible for the outcome. Do not use the Service as the sole basis for decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on a person. You are also responsible for having a lawful basis, and giving any notices required, for the IP addresses of your own users that you submit to the Service.
7. Our rights and your license
The Service, the API, the compiled dataset (including how it is organized and presented), our branding and everything we build around them belong to us or our licensors. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.
While your subscription is active, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to send lookups and to use individual responses inside your own products and internal systems.
- You may cache individual responses for up to 24 hours to avoid repeat lookups.
- You may not keep responses in a persistent database that replicates or approximates our dataset.
- You may not use the Service to build or improve a competing product.
If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if we reasonably suspect abuse, if required by law, or if your subscription lapses. For serious or ongoing violations we may act without prior notice and without a refund.
You can stop using the Service at any time by cancelling your subscription on RapidAPI. When access ends, your license ends. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, liability and governing law) will survive.
9. Availability and disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including accuracy, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Any uptime commitment applies only if we have agreed one with you in writing (for example on an Enterprise plan).
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, including losses arising from traffic that was blocked or allowed based on a verdict.
Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the Service in the three months before the claim arose and (b) USD 50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims, and related losses and reasonable costs, arising from your breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or from how you use verdicts in your own product in violation of law.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. Where reasonably possible we will tell you about material changes through the marketplace or by email. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of the State of Wyoming, USA have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where mandatory law says otherwise.
