In short
We process the IP addresses you send us to give you a verdict, plus basic logs to keep the service secure. We don't sell data or run ad trackers, and accounts and payments are handled by RapidAPI.
1. Who we are
This policy explains how DetectProxy (“DetectProxy”, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use our API or visit our website. You can reach us at Show email.
2. What we collect
When you use the API
- The IP address you submit for a lookup, the time of the request, and the classification we returned.
- Technical request details passed on by the marketplace, which can include an identifier for your marketplace account or subscription.
- Operational and security data such as error logs, rate-limit counters, and signals used to detect abuse (for example query volume and patterns).
When you contact us
Your email address and whatever you include in your message.
When you visit this website
Our hosting provider may log standard request data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This site has no user accounts and does not use advertising or analytics trackers. It loads its typeface from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details when the page loads.
If you click Scan my connection on the homepage, your IP address is looked up once to show you the result on screen. The result isn't stored.
What we don't collect
We do not receive your payment card details. Billing and account management are handled by RapidAPI under its Privacy Policy.
3. How we use it
- To provide the Service and return the results you ask for.
- To keep it secure, enforce quotas and rate limits, and detect and prevent abuse.
- To troubleshoot problems and answer your questions.
- To improve performance and accuracy, using aggregated data where possible.
- To meet legal obligations.
4. Lookup data and your users
The IP addresses you submit may relate to your own users or visitors. We process them on your behalf only to return a verdict and to run and secure the Service. We do not sell them, share them for advertising, or try to identify the people behind them.
You are responsible for having a lawful basis, and giving any notices required, for sending those addresses to us.
5. Legal bases
Where data protection law such as the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the Service); our legitimate interests (security, fraud and abuse prevention, and running and improving the Service); legal obligations; and consent where the law requires it.
6. Who we share it with
- RapidAPI, the marketplace through which the Service is offered. See RapidAPI’s Privacy Policy for how it handles data on its side.
- Infrastructure and hosting providers that process data for us under contract.
- Authorities or other parties where required by law, or to protect our rights and users.
- A successor if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
We do not sell personal data.
7. International transfers
We and our providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
8. How long we keep it
We keep request logs only for as long as we need them for security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting and billing reconciliation, and then delete or aggregate them. We keep support emails for as long as needed to resolve your request and meet legal requirements.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, including access controls and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, Show email. We may need to verify your identity first. Lookup logs are keyed by IP address, so we may not be able to link a request to a specific person. If you are an end user of one of our customers, please contact that customer directly.
11. Children
The Service is built for developers and businesses and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal data.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
